2 Down 1 to Go

23rd March 2005 • Dave

Ah righty, the PCMCIA network card I was using in my laptop appears to have died. So I’m now down to just the one machine on my LAN. Martin says I should get a wireless router. I already have 2 routers. Besides wireless is all well and good when you’re out and about, but let’s face it it’s comparatively slow and unreliable. Cashflow problems not really helping at the moment either.

Let’s do the Timelord Again – [Sunday Herald]

20th March 2005 • Dave

Damien Love’s preview in the Herald is probably a good reflection of my feelings about the return to TV of Doctor Who. I was not really a huge fan of the show, but would tune in occasionally and do remember it from my childhood. I also watched reruns in the early days of UK Gold, now called UKTV Gold.

Like most people Tom Baker is for me the quintiscential Doctor followed closely by John P.

I watched BBC Two’s Doctor Who Night yesterday evening and yes dear reader I even sort out the first of the new episodes online. I was amazed and delighted to see the guy who plays the pedantic Eddie from the BBC Two sitcom Early Doors pop up as an internet conspirisist in the first of the new episodes. However, I fear we won’t see him again. By it’s very nature there are usually ownly a couple of regulars on the show. Well aside from the Daleks. Bring on the Daleks.

Right must go out, I’ve been in all week and am bouncing off the walls.

“Dry Your Pants Mate”

15th March 2005 • Dave

Don’t you just hate The Streets. They seemed to be playing continuously in the pub on Monday evening when I took the GF out for a birthday drink. Neither of us was particularly in the mood for celebrating as we’re awaiting news of her dog who could have the big C. We’ll know later today.

Long Weekend

14th March 2005 • Dave

It seems my girlfriend’s dog is very sick. something wrong with his prostate gland they reckon. He’s staying with the vet at the moment as he isn’t able to toilet or eat without assistance. It’s not looking good, but I’m trying to remain positive. He sees a specialist tomorrow with any luck.

ACB Radio has got someone at CSUN again this year, unfortunately it’s not me. I’ve never been to the city of angels and would welcome the chance.

For reasons which are not entirely clear, I watched Jane Ayre on TV Sunday.

I see David Blunket is trying to rebuild his reputation making, as he did, an appearance on breakfast with frost. It’ll be interesting to see if Tony has any use for him following the election.

Ah well it’s stupid o’clock and I need to be in bed. Very far behind with email at the mo.

Tommy Vance – Guardian newspaper’s Obituary

10th March 2005 • Dave

First it was John Peel, and now Tommy Vance. These guys are two of the reasons I spent many an hour in the middle of the night as a kid listening to the radio. These fellas are probably why I’m doing what I’m doing now.

It’s All Going On

8th March 2005 • Dave

Well on Sunday the box known as Mesh, which is my main machine for checking email, audio production etc died in the early hours. No idea what went wrong, however it just won’t boot now. Sunday was also Mother’s Day here in the UK, so I went to visit my mum. This was followed by dinner with my uncle Heaon. Returned home and spent several hours on the phone with one of our volunteers providing tech support. Didn’t get finished until after 3AM.

Slept in Monday and sadly missed my show. Doh. Interviewed Torsten ala Talks.

My Uncle came over this evening to help move my couch outside for the council to collect tomorrow, or is that today. New couch comes Wednesday, so I’ll be sat on the floor until then.

Lots to do and no time to blog it. It’s called real life. So those of you who read this regularly, I’m not ignoring you, just trying to get my sad little world in order.

It’ll be a few days before my next post. Got a lot to do for work and don’t feel much like blogging.

See ya.
